There are any number of fanciful explanations and interpretations of alchemy. Some of these are from very respected and well-meaning individuals, others from obvious charlatans with dubious motives, others still from the merely ignorant to the downright insane.

With utmost humility and with the intent of benefiting all beings, we offer a very brief glimpse into the reality behind the myth in the hope that we might at the very least prevent sincere individuals from being led astray (even if only by their own hopes and fears) into any of the many alluring sidetracks, harmful practices, and imaginative wastes of time and energy that beset the unwary.

If we do no good, may we at least do no harm.
